Bobby Lashley To Return This Summer

Former WWE superstar Bobby Lashley was supposed to be fighting this Saturday night at Strikeforce: Nashville. However, nasal surgery pushed back his training camp and he is now expected to return to Strikeforce sometime this summer, MMAWeekly.com is reporting.

“We had hoped he was going to be on the card in the very beginning, and as we were getting closer to the fight, he had to have a surgery procedure, and I just don’t think the timing was right,” Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said.

“We both agreed maybe it would be best for everybody and us waiting until the next one or the one after and see how it goes. Cause he didn’t have a chance to go back to ATT and go train and do it properly because of his surgery procedure, so when I found out it was affecting his training we both felt maybe it was the best thing to pass.”

Lashley is currently 5-0 since becoming a mixed martial artist in 2008. Coker and Strikeforce have been careful to bring Lashley along slowly while he still gets acclimated to the sport.

“Here’s the thing about Bobby Lashley… here’s this amazing physical specimen that has a wrestling background, learning his stand-up, but a lot of people have so many high expectations of Bobby, which I think he can achieve,” Coker said. “That’s why we signed him and we believe in Bobby, but he’s still working his way up the ladder so to speak.”
