Boetsch Drops To Middleweight, Meets Grove At UFC 130

Tim Boetsch

Boetsch vs. Grove official for UFC 130

Tim Boetsch will make the drop down from the light heavyweight division to meet Kendall Grove at UFC 130 at the 185 lb. mark.

UFC officials announced the bout earlier today.

Boetsch is currently in his second stint with the promotion and is an even 1-1 since returning at UFC 117 with a victory over Todd Brown. However, Boetsch had an unimpressive performance at UFC 123, when he was submitted in the second round of his main card bout against top prospect Phil Davis.

But the former light heavyweight is not the only one looking for redemption, as Grove, a former “Ultimate Fighter” winner, is coming off a loss to Demian Maia at “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale.” Since becoming a winner of the reality series, Grove has compiled an average record of 6-5, but has failed to live up to expectations.

UFC 130 is set for the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 28 and features the final bout in the Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard trilogy. Grove and Boetsch will compete on the evening’s preliminary card.
