Fresh off dismantling the Boston Celtics in Game 1, 117-104, and improving their 2017 postseason record to 9-0, the Cleveland Cavaliers will look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals on Friday night at the TD Garden.
According to OddsShark, the Cavaliers are favored by five points over the Celtics in Game 2. The over-under is set at 218.5 points.
The OddsShark computer likes the Cavs to continue their playoff dominance and take down Isaiah Thomas and the Celtics in Game 2, projecting a 118.02-102.4 Cavs victory. The computer is taking Cleveland to cover the spread and taking the over on the point total.
It hasn’t been all doom and gloom for the Celtics this week — quite the opposite actually. While Boston is hoping to even things up Friday night, one could argue the organization is playing with house money — having won the NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night, thanks to a prior trade made with Brooklyn.
The Cavs won three out of four regular season matchups against the Celtics and are 8-2 in their last 10 against the team in green, including 6-3-1 against the spread. The point total has gone OVER in five of their last seven road games.
Meanwhile, the Celtics are 9-3 overall against the spread in their last 12 games, and the point total has gone OVER in each of their last five home games.
While we don’t think Boston will get completely blown out of the water as they did in Game 1, Heavy still has trouble going with them in Game 2 — even with the five points. However, we do like the trend of Celtics home games going OVER the point total, so we will go with that.
Heavy’s Pick: Cavaliers 115 -05, Celtics 104. Over on the Point Total.
