Originally scheduled to take on Jones in the main event of the biggest show in UFC history, Cormier’s status was suddenly up in the air. Dana White said that DC would still fight, and soon rumors began trickling in that his opponent would be the legendary Anderson Silva.
And on Thursday night, it was confirmed:

Instead, less than 48 hours after news of Jones’ removal, it’ll be Cormier, the light heavyweight champ, and Silva, arguably the greatest of all-time, standing face-to-face at the weigh-in.
