Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been suspended four games for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy, the team announced Monday. He will be eligible to return for Chicago’s game against the Packers on Dec. 18. As a result, Jeffery’s fantasy value takes a huge hit.

Jeffery has a team-high 630 yards in nine games this season. In Jeffery’s absence, Cameron Meredith will see his workload increase, and Eddie Royal will get plenty of targets in the slot. Fantasy owners who need wide receiver help, should acquire Meredith as he’s currently the best receiver sitting on waivers.

The Bears are relying more often on their passing game, which makes Meredith a viable fantasy play going forward. Meredith should be added to fantasy teams in all league formats.

Meredith has been a solid addition since the Bears picked him up as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He’s caught 22 passes for 305 yards in the past four games, and is becoming a featured weapon in Chicago’s pass-heavy offense. During Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers, Meredith caught an incredible 50-yard Hail Mary pass from Jay Cutler for a touchdown which cut the lead to 17-10 just before halftime. That catch was his only of the game, but Meredith still finished with more yards than Jeffery who was favored in the match-up.

Although the 2-7 Bears have had their share of struggles this season, their schedule looks favorable for Meredith the next few weeks as they face the Giants, Titans, 49ers and Lions. Meredith should hold solid WR3 value.
