Best rc boats

The Heavy Power List of Top 5 Best RC Boats for Sale includes a huge price range of RC boats. That’s one of the great things about remote-controlled boats — there’s a different boat out there for every type of user. From the kid who just wants something to race with to the hardcore hobbyist adult with a bigger budget, there is a boat out there. But when buying them — especially the higher end models — there’s a lot you need to know. We didn’t even bother to put anything on this list that didn’t have a brushless motor, but you probably already expected that, right?

So without further ado, here are the top 5 best RC boats for sale, along with all of the important information you need to know about them:

1. Pro Boat Impulse 31 Deep-V

2. Aquacraft Motley Crew FE Catamaran

Man, can this thing fly! Not literally of course, as it stays glued to the water you’re riding on, but the Aquacraft Motley Crew FE Catamaran boat is incredibly fast, hitting speeds nearing 75 mph. The Aquacraft Motley Crew FE Catamaran has a water-cooled 6-pole 1800kV brushless motor with a 60A ESC w/4 mm bullet connectors and Deans Ultra Plugs. It also utilizes Tactic 2.4GHz radio technology for interference-free control. Sure, it’s fast as hell, but it’s also super easy to control so that even sport modelers can enjoy it. This boat is made out of durable fiberglass from hull to tail, matching the aggressiveness of the Motley Crew. The rudder and strut are made from machined aluminum for consistent performance and durability, but they also look great as they come black anodized. The paint job of the boat itself leaves much to be desired, but that is easily rectified with some after market paint. But as it stands, the out of the box boat is, well, ugly. Still, it’s speed more than makes up for its less-than-appealing presentation.

3. Atomik RC Barbwire 17″ RTR Self Righting RC Boat

The Atomik RC Barbwire 17″ RTR Self Righting RC boat is the best-selling remote-controlled boat on the market. If I were to give this boat a nickname, it’d be Little Zippy because of its size and speed. It’s also important to note its biggest selling feature: the fact that it is self-righting, meaning you can literally throw it on the water and it’ll find itself right-side-up and ready to zip across the water. The barbwire is fast and responsive, and you’ll never have to swim out to right your flipped boat ever again. It has a 2950Kv water cooled brushless motor and 30 amp water cooled ESC. Like the two boats mentioned above, it also uses a 2.4Ghz radio and receiver for interference-free usage and long range operation. It reaches speeds of up to 25+ mph with the included 3S 1300mAh LiPo battery. It also comes in at $149.97, which is low enough were you won’t be too heartbroken if it breaks — not that it necessarily will. The Atomik RC Barbwire is the best bang for your buck, which is why it is such a hot seller.

Not only does it look good, with its lime green accents, but it also hits 20 mph — which is great for a toy boat. It has an explosive SC350 type racing motor, and the boat is great for any age hobbyist and any skill level. It’s a great starter boat for those looking to get into the hobby, and the vibrant colors makes it seem as though you know what you’re doing, since it’s showy.

  1. I would like to have more information on the spartan . Please send me up grades that can be done to the boat if any at all. Thanks

  2. Just had a load of batteries through my new Feilun FT011. Superb performance for the $100 it cost. By far the best value of any RC boat. Does 40+mph out of the box and easy mods to improve turning performance. I’ve had a FT012 for a while and that is a massive amount of fun aswell. Just not as big or quite as fast. The FT011 is officially a beast. Did I mention the carbon print top hull?

  3. Heavy reviewer, Bobby Bernstein, should get correct information for the specifications for the boats they have listed here before posting them. First of all, the Motley Crew does not run 75 mph out of the box!!!! I have all these boats at one time or another and only when I upgraded these items. .(1) motor, (2) ESC (electronic speed control), (3) flex shaft, (4) change the plastic prop to a metal prop, (5) dual and bigger cooling lines, (6) and used high quality lipos (batteries ) with at least 65C lipos did I achieve speeds of over 70 mph for the Motley Crew. Also, making statements like that the Spartan is the fastest RTR rc boat with speeds of 50 mph+ and yet stating the Motley Crew with speeds of 75 mph is contradicting their reviews. Bobby should be embarrassed giving false statements and facts. Also, there are far more better and formidable boats than the ones mentioned here. It is evident Bobby has no clue what’s out there. Heavy should get real rc boaters to do the reviews so their readers are well informed and can make buying decisions confidently. DON’T DO REVIEWS IF YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOU ARE DOING !

    • Does anybody use their brand anymore and build their own boat and be proud of it
I just built a zip kit world holding boat at 150 miles an hour for about 400 bucks what’s that about double what you guys are talking about you guys review on Aloha Norm

      • You simply can’t build a 150 mph
Rc boat for $400, not possible. There are only a handful of people on the planet running that fast and it’s cost them in the tens of thousands getting there plus hundreds if not thousands of hours building, tuning and running the boat. Many boats will be lost in the process, blow overs at over 100 mph can tear apart even the toughest builds made from carbon fiber and Kevlar. Boats will go up in flames from battery and speed control failures. The costs are endless when pursuing triple digit numbers in speed.
This article is poorly researched to say the least. Please don’t use it as any kind of reference if your looking to get into fast electric rc boats.

  4. How does an iPhone 4 or higher as reviewer Bobby Bernstein puts it have anything to do with the speed of the boat???? Top speed requires an iPhone 4 or higher. .What are you on buddy? LOL give me in iPhone so I can get better speed for my fe boats. OMG. . .people if you want more info on fe boats then go to Offshore Electrics, RC Groups just to name a couple of places to get real information. this site is a joke but it’s entertaining to read. . .I’m still having fun reading about these so called top 5 boats. . .hahahaha

    • The iPhone thing is related specifically to the spartan. You need it to unlock programming in the esc (speed control). So yes, the author got that much correct

  5. I bought an Atomik Barbwire 17 and it is awesome… Tiny, over powered boat with a huge rudder!! Does 180 degree turns at top speeds and doesnt seem to slow down!! WOW.. So upset they don’t make it any more

  6. I think everybody should use your brain a little and maybe build a boat you can really be proud of
I build a zip kit world record holding boat at a hundred and fifty miles an hour for about 400 bucks much Aloha Norman
