Struggling UFC veteran Phil Baroni is going to have to wait a bit longer before attempting to snap the two-fight losing streak he is on. The welterweight has been forced out of his UFC 118 bout with John Salter this August.
MMAjunkie.com confirmed the news with Ken Pavia, Baroni’s agent.
Baroni returned to the UFC after a lengthy stretch away from the promotion at UFC 106 where he dropped a unanimous decision loss to Amir Sadollah. The bout was his second loss in a row with the other coming at the hands of Joe Riggs at “Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields” in June of last year.
The search for a replacement is currently underway for the August 28 show at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The bout was originally set for the preliminary card of UFC 118, which was set to precede a main card featuring a lightweight championship rematch between Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn.
