Hey, Japan shocked the world by beating South Africa to start its 2015 Rugby World Cup campaign, so surely even Namibia stand a chance against New Zeal–
Just kidding.
Maybe Japan’s win inspired a slight bit of hope for Namibia, a country that has yet to win a Rugby World Cup match in 15 attempts. And maybe defending champions New Zealand didn’t look as sharp as can be in a 26-16 win over Argentina. But really, none of that matters.
The All Blacks, who are favored by up to 82 points, have won the Webb Ellis Cup twice. They are No. 1 in the world. They have never lost in World Cup pool play. They feature four World Rugby Player of the Year winners.
Namibia, on the other hand, have lost all their World Cup matches by an average margin of 55 points and are at the wrong end of the most lopsided result in history, a 142-0 defeat against Australia in 2003.
