Paul Daley will return to North American soil this September at Shark Fights 13 where he will meet Jorge Masvidal in a welterweight contest on the already stacked main card.
The promotion announced the bout earlier today.
Daley’s return to North America is surely bittersweet. The last time the British striker appropriately nicknamed “Semtex” fought on the continent, he dropped a unanimous decision to Josh Koscheck at UFC 113. In frustration, Daley turned on the American Kickboxing Academy product following the final bell, throwing a punch that led to a lifetime ban from the UFC. Daley rebounded from the loss and unfortunate situation with a victory in Australia last month, which was his fifth in six contests.
Masvidal, fighting out of Coconut Creek, Florida’s American Top Team, last saw action at “Astra: Yoshida’s Farewell”, where he picked up a split decision victory over Naoyuki Kotani. The victory followed a split decision loss from February that snapped a two-fight winning streak. Masvidal is a veteran of such organizations as Sengoku, Bellator Fighting Championships, and Strikeforce.
The addition of this welterweight contest simply builds upon an already stacked Shark Fights card. Shark Fights 13 is set for Amarillo, Texas on September 11, featuring a main event between Trevor Prangley and Keith Jardine. The card also features a bout between Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Houston Alexander.
