Manchester United may be in pursuit of the table lead Saturday at Old Trafford, but the Hammers are in pursuit of Premier League history.
If West Ham can score a victory over van Gaal’s men today, they will be the first team in history to win at Arsenal, at Liverpool, at Manchester City and at United. They’ve already done the first three, most recently notching a 2-1 victory over at the Etihad in September.
Those victories were part of a white-hot start to West Ham’s BPL campaign, but they’ve earned just two points in their last four fixtures. Now they’ll take on the toughest defense of the four, but an offense that will be without some of their top playmakers.
Injuries continue to hold United from their full potential, as Wayne Rooney and Marcus Rojo will both miss Saturday’s contest. Rooney is dealing with an ankle that will also keep him out of Champions League play this week, and Rojo dislocated the sam shoulder he injured in 2014 and is out for an unknown time. For West Ham, Andy Carroll will likely start up front in place of Diafra Sakho.
NBC Sports Network will have the broadcast, in the second of their Saturday tripleheader that leads into NBC. The match will air shortly after the Stoke City-Manchester City match is completed. Today’s match will not be televised live in the UK.
