Despite a home losing streak that now stands at 11 games, the Tennessee Titans are a 2.5-point favorite to snap the slide and beat the Jaguars on Sunday. It would be a quick revenge for the Titans, who were bested by Jacksonville in front of a national audience just two weeks ago.
It was a win that breathed playoff life into the Jaguars, only to have it punched out of them by the Chargers the following Sunday. At 4-7, the Jaguars are two games back of both the Wild Card and the AFC South races.
If Jacksonville can get a road win, it would certainly make for an interesting Week 14. If Houston and Indy lose this week, Jacksonville could have a chance next Sunday to re-gain a share of the division lead. The The Jaguars and Texans will meet in the final game of the regular season.
For Tennessee, it’s all about breaking this streak and getting their young players some experience. Marcus Mariota has had bright spots in his rookie season, but has struggled to produce late in the game. The Titans are third-worst in the NFL in scoring, averaging just 18.5 points per game.
If the Titans want to break their home losing streak, they need to put some pressure on Jags QB Blake Bortles. The second-year passer has thrown a TD in every game this season, but has thrown at least one interception in seven straight contests. It won’t help Bortles that Allen Hurns is out with a concussion. Hurns is the second half of the two Allens in Jacksonville, who have combined for over 1600 yards and 15 touchdowns this season.
The point total for Sunday is set at 43.5 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Jacksonville, who have covered in eight of their previous ten against the Titans, have gone over the total in five of their last seven contests.
The OddsShark computer is predicting a 19.6 – 26.2 Titans victory.
