If Stoke want to end a 36-visit drought of winning at Anfield, they’ll need to overcome the 1-0 aggregate score. And if they want goals, they need to start with getting Marko Arnautovic back in the lineup.
Arnautovic sat out of Stoke’s match over the weekend with hamstring tightness, only to watch his teammates lose to Leicester 3-0. The Austrian forward is a big target, and could play a vital role against Liverpool’s defense. Klopp’s men allowed four goals to Norwich City last weekend, all off of set pieces.
The Reds may have home-field advantage for this Cup semifinal second leg, but the short weeks have taken their toll on the squad. Nathaniel Clyne picked up a knee injury against Norwich, leaving Klopp with little options at right back. If Clyne can’t go, the duties may fall to Jon Flanagan, who suffered a serious knee injury and hasn’t started a match in 20 months.
