Marshawn Lynch is apparently calling it quits on his NFL career.
The bruising Seattle Seahawks running back sent out the above picture on Twitter during the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. Rumors have been flying that the 29-year-old wouldn’t return next season, and this picture of him hanging up his cleats appears to confirm that speculation.
It’s been an amazing run for Beast Mode, who played nine NFL seasons total and the last five-and-a-half with Seattle Seahawks. He finishes his career with 9,112 rushing yards, 74 rushing touchdowns, 1,979 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns.
One of the most dominant backs in the league during his time with Seattle, he ran with a rare combination of burst and power, always seeking out contact, always breaking tackles and always churning out yards after first touch. He struggled with injuries this past year but had at least 1,200 yards and double-digit touchdowns in each of his first four full seasons with the ‘Hawks. He also has one of the most iconic runs in Super Bowl history:
NFL defenders may not miss him, but those who enjoyed watching one of the most exciting running backs in the league certainly will.
