Back in June, Bandai Namco ported over a series that its Japanese fanbase can’t get enough of: the monster hunting franchise known as God Eater.
God Eater: Resurrection provided PS4, PS Vita and PC owners with their own interpretation of Capcom’s popular creature pursuit franchise. With Bandai Namco’s IP, gamers joined up with three other party members and tried to save the world with their powerful “God Arcs.” US and UK fans who haven’t completed that version will need to hurry up cause the sequel is heading their way in August. God Eater 2: Rage Burst will throw in new weapons, fighting styles and a host of helpful mechanics that will flesh out the gameplay.
Prepare yourself for an even tougher struggle against the Aragami threat with this preview of God Eater 2: Rage Burst.
1. This Sequel Will Allow You to Take Down the Aragami With Three New Weapon Styles
Your custom character is always equipped with massive bladed or blunt weapons known as “God Arcs.” These weapons can change into one of four forms during a battle situation: Blade, Gun, Shield and Predator. Along with the many weapons that were already at your disposal in the first game, three new weapons will debut in this sequel: the Boost Hammer, Charge Spear and the Shotgun. A lot the previous weapons will arrive with new skills (example: the Long Blade can now cancel attacks and allow you to pull off even longer combos).
2. Rage Burst Takes Place Three Years After the Events of the First Game
Rage Burst takes place three years after the events of its predecessor. Like before, you’re still a powerful God Eater who’s sole goal is to wipe out the remaining Aragami threat that has laid waste to Japan. The main plot description for this sequel has been posted in full right down below:
THREE YEARS AFTER THE EVENTS OF GOD EATER: RESURRECTION, A MYSTERIOUS RED RAIN SPARKS A FATAL PANDEMIC CALLED THE BLACK PLAGUE. WITH NO ESTABLISHED CURE, THIS SCOURGE HAS A MORTALITY RATE OF 100% ONCE INFECTED. MEMBERS OF THE SPECIAL UNIT “BLOOD,” AN AFFILIATE OF THE FENRIR ORGANIZATION, ARE SENT TO ASSIST AND INVESTIGATE. TAKE CONTROL OF THEIR NEWEST RECRUIT AS YOU MASTER INCREDIBLE WEAPONRY, CHALLENGE ENORMOUS MONSTERS, AND COOPERATE WITH AN ICONIC CAST OF CHARACTERS FIGHTING FOR HUMANITY IN GOD EATER 2: RAGE BURST.
3. A New Attack Called Blood Arts is Being Added
One of the newest abilities your God Eater can tap into are called “Blood Arts.” These additional attacks come about when you tap into your inner “Blood Rage,” which then leads to you unleashing your full offensive potential. Blood Arts have the power to strengthen your normal attacks and transform then into new attacks entirely. This skill can also help develop an already equipped Blood Art into an even stronger one. As you complete missions, you can use those experience points you just gained by putting them into your Blood Arts proficiency. There’s over 200 different Blood Arts to learn, prepare and master.
4. New Character Episodes Will Be Linked to the New Link Support Device Mechanic
Along with all the Aragami hunting quests you’ll embark upon, you’ll also need to complete “Character Episodes.” These side quests occur after you interact with any of the NPC’s you come across. These side missions will award you with all types of rewards upon completion.
Completing these tasks helps unlock the “Link Support Device” feature. With this item as a part of your gear, your character gains certain beneficial status effects (such as an additional 10-percent boost to your attacks). But first, you’ll need to equip a Link Support Device that’s tied to one of your allies’ God Arc and your own.
5. The Day One Edition Comes With a Smorgasbord of Bonus Goodies
Pre-ordering God Eater 2: Rage Burst means you’ll walk away with a whole ‘other game and some costume DLC for the sequel you just acquired. With the Day One Edition of the sequel, you’ll receive a download token for the first game that was recently released (God Eater: Resurrection). For the second game, costume sets for your characters will arrive that are based on popular manga/anime titles: Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization, Tales of Zestiria and Tokyo Ghoul.
