The Wood Memorial is part of a busy April 8 race day. The Aqueduct race is one of three key Kentucky Derby prep races taking place today. Today’s race has a post time of 5:52 p.m. Eastern on NBC Sports Network.
While there is a shallow field of horses in the Wood Memorial, the race features several horses to watch with an eye on Churchill Downs. Trainer Todd Pletcher has trained two of the horses in the field, Battalion Runner and Bonus Points. Coming into the race, Battalion Runner is seen as the better horse and a potential contender for the Kentucky Derby.
There are 180 points at stake in today’s race. The winner gets 100 points and will be in the Kentucky Derby. Second place gets 40 points, third place gets 20 points and fourth place gets 10 points.
Chad Brown’s Cloud Computing may not have a lot of experience but is expected to make some noise in today’s race. Irish War Cry is another horse to watch despite getting an unfavorable post.
