The Xbox Game Pass is rolling out today for Xbox Live Gold members and on June 1 for everyone else. The Xbox Game Pass will allow subscribers to have access to wide variety of games as part of a subscription that they are free to download and play as long as they are subscribing. Think of it like a Netflix for video games except you don’t actually stream the games, but download them instead.
The library of games is already pretty lengthy and will likely be added to over time. Some heavy hitters in the lineup include Halo 5 and Resident Evil 0 while we have the Gears of War trilogy on the Xbox 360 side of things. All the Xbox 360 titles are playable on Xbox One. New titles are added every month but we don’t know if that means older titles will be removed.
If you want to purchase a game while you are subscribed to the program, you can get 20 percent off the price of the game and 10 percent off the add-ons if the title is still offered with the service.
The service is available for $9.99 a month and there is no option for a long-term subscription. Everyone will be able to have a 14-day trail before they have to start paying.
This service is only available on the Xbox One.
