Destiny 2 PC Beta Differs From Console

Destiny 2

Last week when Bungie detailed the list of things to expect with the Destiny 2 PC beta, along with the system specs, the developer promised there was more information coming. Now we have that additional information.

PC players will actually get an additional map to play for their beta. Consider it a gift for having to wait about a month after console players played the beta. Bungie also detailed what its goals for the PC Beta. This will be the first time Destiny has appeared on PC so Bungie warns players that issues will likely pop up.

With all that said, here’s what you’ll be playing when you fire up the Destiny 2 beta on PC:

  • Homecoming Story Mission
  • Inverted Spire Strike
  • Countdown on Midtown
  • Control on Javelin-4 (new map)

If you need a refresher on when the beta starts, we also have that for you. Keep in the mind that those who pre-order will get a day head start on the action. It’s also interesting to note that the beta actually runs during the week, suggesting that it could possibly see an extension into the weekend. The console beta received an extension as well.

  • Early Access: August 28
  • Open Beta: August 29
  • Beta Ends: August 31

Bungie says its goals for this beta are to test the functionality for Destiny 2 on a new platform, give PC players their first taste of Destiny 2 in action and leave a world of surprises in store for the final version of the game.

One thing that worries players since the game is making the jump to PC is hackers and cheaters. Bungie isn’t completely showing their hand when it comes to how those offenders will be dealt with but steps are being taken. Bungie says applications that attempt to change the game’s code will be resisted in an effort to prevent this from happening. There’s no doubt players will find a workaround, they always do, but Bungie will be doing its best to stop those cheaters.

Your streaming services are also affected. If you use OBS or XSplit to stream, you may have to change the way you do it. You can read more about that issue in-depth right here.
