Brilz and Davis meet at UFC 129
A light heavyweight bout between Phil Davis and Jason Brilz is in the works for UFC 129 this April.
MMAjunkie.com reported news of the match up on earlier today.
Davis, who has often been compared to 205 lb. top contender Jon Jones, has compiled a perfect record of 8-0 during his short time as a professional mixed martial artist. He last competed at UFC 123, submitting Tim Boetsch with a kimura that earned the prospect submission of the night last November.
Brilz, meanwhile, looks to bounce back from a controversial loss to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 114. Many believed the split-decision defeat was the incorrect call, but Brilz’s one-fight winning streak was cut off nevertheless. However, the light heavyweight still boasts a 3-2 record during his time with the UFC.
UFC 129 is set for April 29 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The main event of the show will be a welterweight title bout between champion Georges St. Pierre and top contender Jake Shields, while featherweight champion Jose Aldo defends his belt against Mark Hominick in the co-main event.
