The Boston Red Sox struck first in their fourth ever postseason series with the New York Yankees, riding a three-run J.D. Martinez homer in the first inning to a 5-4 victory.

Betting Odds for Game 2
Westgate SuperBook had the Red Sox pegged as -160 favorites going into Game 1; the Yankees were +150 underdogs. But Vegas is more confident in New York’s chances with Masahiro Tanaka (12-6, 3.75 ERA) going up against Boston’s David Price (16-7, 3.58 ERA) in Game 2.

Before Game 1, the Red Sox were -150 favorites to the Yankees’ +130 underdogs at 5Dimes, according to OddsShark.
The Rest of the Series
Neither team has announced their starters beyond Game 2. Boston’s Rick Porcello (17-7, 4.28 ERA) was expected to go up against Luis Severino (19-8, 3.39 ERA) in Game 3, but the Red Sox righty came on in relief in the eighth to induce two outs before surrendering an infield single to Gleyber Torres and giving way to Craig Kimbrel, who earned the four-out save.
Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Passan thinks Porcello could still be in line to pitch in Game 3, however:
Here’s the Red Sox’s thinking, I imagine: It’s Rick Porcello’s bullpen day, and if he was going to throw anyway, might as well try to scratch a vital inning out of him. Imagine he’ll be ready to go Monday in Game 3. Kimbrel is warming and will come in if Porcello gets in trouble.
Red Sox trade acquisition Nathan Eovaldi (6-7, 3.81 ERA) and Yankees veteran CC Sabathia (9-7, 3.65 ERA) will likely take the mound in Game 4.
