UFC welterweight Carlos Condit makes his return to the cage at UFC 132
When Jon Fitch was forced out of his rematch with B.J. Penn, Condit, the former WEC welterweight champion, expressed an interest in filling in opposite “The Prodigy.” With Penn now removed from the card as well, Condit will instead face-off with unbeaten Korean judoka Dong Hyun Kim. The UFC confirmed the bout on Twitter.
The 29-year-old “Stun Gun” has amassed five wins inside the Octagon, most recently defeating Nate Diaz by unanimous decision at UFC 125 in January; he also holds victories over Matt Brown and Amir Sadollah.
Kim is best known for his UFC 94 bout with Karo Parisyan, which initially ended with Parisyan winning a split decision. The bout was later ruled a No Contest when Parisyan tested positive for banned painkillers, leaving Kim’s unbeaten record intact.
Condit marks the biggest test of his career. The Albuquerque native is riding a three-fight winning streak and enters of his thunderous knockout of Dan Hardy at UFC 120 in October.
UFC 132 is scheduled to take place July 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
