Bonnar, Vemola to meet in Milwaukee
UFC fan favorite Stephan Bonnar is returning to action against Karlos Vemola this August.
Bonnar first revealed the news through his Twitter account, but did not specify a date or event. ESPN’s Jon Anik was the first to report that the event on which the runner-up from season one of “The Ultimate Fighter” will be competing is “UFC on Versus 5,” set for this August in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The always entertaining Bonnar last competed at “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale,” defeating Igor Pokrajac via unanimous decision in what turned out to be a fairly one-sided contest. The victory was his second in a row, with the other coming via technical knockout against Krzysztof Soszynski at UFC 116.
The victory over Soszynski ended a three-fight losing streak which dated from January 31 of 2009 to February 21 of the next year.
Following a disappointing unanimous decision loss to Jon Madsen in his UFC debut, Karlos Vemola entered the cage in search of redemption at UFC 122 against Seth Petruzelli. Vemola earned a first round technical knockout stoppage to cut Petruzelli’s night (and second stint in the UFC) short.
The 205 lb. tilt will likely serve as a main event bout come August 17. The event, which will be broadcast live on Versus, also includes Amir Sadollah vs. Duane Ludwig and Cole Miller vs. T.J O’Brien.
