“UFC on Versus 4” draws 744,000 viewers
Last Sunday evening’s “UFC on Versus 4” drew an average audience of 744,000 on Versus between the 9 p.m. ET start time and11 p.m. ET conclusion.
MMAjunkie.com revealed the numbers earlier today.
The event was headlined by a heavyweight bout between Cheick Kongo and Pat Barry after Nate Marquardt was forced out of his main event bout with Rick Story and handed his walking papers from Dana White. Kongo earned the victory in the headliner after nearly being knocked out on several occasions, as he blasted Barry with a pair of right hooks to cap off the night.
Also on the card, Rick Story‘s impressive and quick rise through the welterweight division came to an abrupt halt against late replacement Charlie Brenneman, who utilized his wrestling to pick up the victory. In the other two bouts that aired on Versus, heavyweight Matt Mitrione once again proved far too difficult for his opponent, knocking out Christian Morecraft in the second round of their contest, while Matt Brown edged out John Howard in a less than entertaining three round contest.
The average audience marks an increase of 63,000 from the previous Versus broadcast, “UFC on Versus 3,” which featured a main event between Martin Kampmann and Diego Sanchez. Due to the unfortunate happenings during the days leading up to the fight, it is a number the UFC can no doubt be happy with.
