UFC 136 featherweight title challenger releases statement about his future
Everyone has been Kenny Florian what the future holds for him following his UFC 136 loss to Jose Aldo.
It was the third unsuccessful attempt to claim UFC gold for the Ultimate Fighter Season 1 cast member, and for right now, the only answer Florian has is that he’s not sure what’s next.
“First, I’d like to thank Jose Aldo for giving me the opportunity to compete for the featherweight title last Saturday,” Florian stated in a press release distributed by his management company, Authentic Sports Management, earlier today. “I gave the fight my all, but Jose won that night. I would also like to thank the UFC, Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta for their continued support.
“I am passionate about mixed martial arts, and I love being involved in this sport. It is incredible to see how much MMA has grown and that, today, there are millions of people who enjoy the UFC as much as I do.
“Second, everyone is asking what is next for me. The only response I can give right now is that I’m going to take some time. I want to rest, spend some time with my family and friends, and then evaluate all of my options. I’ll speak with Dana, and my manager, Glenn Robinson, and we will figure out my next move.”
Already established as the lead analyst on ESPN’s MMA Live and having filled in well very for Joe Rogan opposite Mike Goldberg on various UFC broadcasts in the past, the 35-year-old Florian a long and successful future ahead of him in broadcasting. He also operates his own gym, Florian Martial Arts Center, in Brookline, Massachusetts with his brother Keith, so there are obvious options available to him should he decide to call it a career inside the cage.
Florian isn’t ready to make that decision just yet, and promised that his loyal supporters will know as soon as he does.
“When I make that decision, my fans will be the first to know. One way or another, you haven’t seen the last of Ken-Flo!”
