Getty Giants Tight End Evan Engram
The Giants will be without one of their best offensive weapons this week. Tight end Evan Engram will not suit up for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets with an injured foot.
Engram told reporters Wednesday he has a “low-grade sprain” and will miss this week. Engram will then be evaluated after the Giants’ bye week and could return in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears.
“Timing works out,” Engram told reporters Wednesday. “So rest this week and obviously get a lot of rest next week.”
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Engram will get a second opinion on the injury.
“An MRI of Giants’ TE Evan Engram’s foot injury is being sent to noted Dr. Robert Anderson for a second opinion, per source,” Schefter tweeted.
Engram caught six passes for 48 yards in the Giants 37-18 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night. On the season he has recorded 44 receptions for 467 yards and three touchdowns and has emerged as one of the top pass-catching tight ends in the NFL.

Fantasy Impact
Fantasy owners should pick up Rhett Ellison, who was the main pass-catching tight end for the Giants when Engram missed the Week 6 loss to the New England Patriots. In that game, Ellison received seven targets, third-most on the team.
Ellison racked up 20 targets across four games he played last season without Engram in the lineup. He is currently available in 99.2% of ESPN Fantasy Football leagues.
Golden Tate should see an increased share of targets this week with Engram sidelined. Tate had a strong game on Monday against Dallas hauling in six catches for 42 yards and adding one rush for 16 yards.
The highlight for Tate was a one-handed circus catch made in the second quarter which drew comparisons to Odell Beckham and set up the Giants’ first touchdown of the night.
Is Met Life Haunted?
The Giants were outscored 34-9 by the Cowboys after a black cat ran onto the field Monday night at Met Life Stadium.
It happened with 5:32 remaining in the second quarter and the Giants leading 9-3. The cat caused a delay of about two minutes before it ran off back into the tunnel. The entire scene was captured on the ESPN broadcast.
The announcers couldn’t control their laughter when they were watching replays of the cat scurrying about. ESPN’s Joe Tessitore even did a play-by-play of the cat’s journey onto the field. The delay lasted for about two minutes. Play immediately resumed once the cat went off the field of play and back into the bowels of the stadium. It is unsure if the feline has been retrieved.
Westwood One Sports broadcaster Kevin Harlan painted a descriptive and hilarious picture of the action over the radio.
With the Jets also struggling mightily and quarterback Sam Darnold “seeing ghosts“, it begs the question about whether or not Met Life Stadium needs an exorcist.
