Palhares replaces Cane, meets Okami at UFC 150
Luiz Cane’s middleweight debut in the UFC has been put on hold.
The Brazilian striker, fresh off reaching a contract extension with the promotion, has been forced out of his 185 lb. bout against Yushin Okami at UFC 150, and Rousimar Palhares has stepped in as a replacement.
The promotion announced the news earlier this week.
Palhares last competed at “UFC on FOX 3” against Alan Belcher, losing via technical knockout. The loss snapped a three-fight winning streak and was only his third in 10 fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Meanwhile, Okami looks for redemption of his own after losing back-to-back contests. He was defeated by Anderson Silva in a middleweight title fight at UFC 134, then let a victory slip away to Tim Boetsch at UFC 144. Okami was on an impressive three-fight winning streak of his own prior to the pair of losses.
UFC 150 is set for August 11 in Denver, Colorado and features a lightweight championship rematch between Benson Henderson and Frankie Edgar.
