Story
Borderlands 2 takes place five years after the first game. Handsome Jack and his Hyperion Corporation now rule Pandora with an iron fist. Like all the best villains, Handsome Jack believes he’s the hero of this story – or at least, he will be, once he gets his hands on the powerful living thing inside the Vault. Jack plans to wipe out Pandora’s population and create a new industrialized world. It’s up to you, playing as one of the Vault Hunters, to stop him and the Hyperion Corporation. You’re going to need some help, so bring some buddies for co-op action and pick up some of the “bazillions of guns” available in the game before taking on the Psychos, robots, and everything else standing in your way.
Gameplay
Borderlands 2 is pretty much a first-person shooter version of Diablo. You destroy hordes of enemies and then pluck randomized loot from their remains. Players can find thousands of different weapons that can be customized to their liking.
The game offers four new characters for players to control, each with unique skill trees. You can go it alone or team up with three other players. The game has better character-build options, tactical teamwork, meta-game goodies, and super-special loot. You can still just pull the trigger and watch things die, but strategy fans are in for a treat. The scope for building specialist roles is much more impressive than in the first game, offering huge satisfaction for those willing to invest in a specific play-style.
Borderlands 2 improves not only the narrative, but almost every major game system.
