After 39 near-perfect years of showing up on time, Today show veteran Al Roker overslept and missed his own show on Tuesday, reports the Daily Mail.

As soon as Roker woke up and realized he missed the taping for Wake Up With Al on The Weather Channel at 6 a.m., he tweeted about his morning mishap and rushed to NBC Studios for his second taping on the Today show. Roker didn’t get off easy and was naturally quizzed by his colleagues Savannah Guthrie, Natalie Morales and Matt Lauer about the incident.

“The alarm clock on my phone didn’t go off. Somebody asked, ‘What’s your back-up?’ For 39 years I didn’t need one,” Roker explained and joked that he had changed the name of his show to “Al, Wake Up!”

His coworkers also couldn’t help but poke fun at the funny man on Twitter.

Roker himself even made light of the situation and asked his fans to share their oversleeping stories.

Looks like the TV personality will be investing in a new alarm clock pretty soon!
