Moves to 53-man roster
Clapp was signed to the Bills' active roster Thursday, Chris Jenkins of the team's official site reports. Clapp's addition to the 53-man roster comes as the team placed swing tackle Tylan Grable (abdomen) on IR. The former will help bolster Buffalo's offensive line depth when the team travels to Baltimore to play the Ravens on Sunday.
Gets released
The Bills released Clapp (concussion) on Tuesday, Alec White of the team's official site reports. Buffalo brought Clapp on board back in March, but on the day of the roster cut deadline for 2024, it's decided to move on from him. He'll now have to look for another opportunity elsewhere.
Enters concussion protocols
Head coach Sean McDermott relayed Thursday that Clapp has been out of practice while in concussion protocols, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports. Clapp signed a one-year deal with the Bills in March after spending the last two seasons with the Chargers. He started in 11 of 14 games for the Bolts in 2023, and he is currently slated as the Bills' backup center behind Connor McGovern. Clapp has played 41 snaps (39 on offense, two on special teams) across Buffalo's two preseason games, though he would be forced to miss Saturday's preseason finale against Carolina if he isn't able to pass the league's concussion protocols.
Inks deal with Buffalo
The Bills signed Clapp (knee) to a one-year deal Friday. Clapp missed the final three games of the Chargers' 2023 campaign due to a knee injury, but after agreeing to terms with Buffalo on Friday, it seems as if he's moved past the issue. The veteran offensive lineman spent the first six seasons of his career with New Orleans and Los Angeles, appearing in 65 total games and making 21 starts. He'll likely have the opportunity to start at center for the Bills in 2024.
