Set to make season debut
Horton (illness) is active for Sunday's game against the Bills, Texans TV Host Drew Dougherty reports. Horton is cleared to make his season debut after starting the campaign on the reserve/non-football illness list. The 2023 fourth-round pick is expected to rotate in behind Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter in Week 5.
Set to return
Horton (illness) was activated from the reserve/non-football illness list Saturday. Horton is expected to play Sunday against the Bills, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, who suggests the TCU product will be rotating in behind Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter in Week 5. The 24-year-old's return comes after he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma last November, while he's been in remission since some point this past summer.
Practice window opens
Houston opened Horton's (illness) practice window Wednesday. Horton began the regular season on the reserve/non-football illness list. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma last November and was reportedly in remission as of this summer. Horton's return to practice Wednesday is a very positive sign in his recovery, and the opening of his practice window means Houston will have 21 days to activate him to its active roster. The 24-year-old played in 10 games during his rookie campaign last year, totaling 13 tackles (eight solo) and notching a fumble recovery over 169 defensive snaps.
Opening season on NFI list
Horton (illness) was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list Tuesday. Horton has been battling an illness since July and he'll continue to recover as the regular season gets underway. The defensive lineman is first eligible to return to the field in Week 5 against the Bills on Oct. 6.
Lands on NFI list
The Texans placed Horton (illness) on the active/non-football injury list Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Horton, who was placed on the reserve/NFI list back in November, subsequently revealed that he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma. The 2023 fourth-round pick is technically eligible to be activated at any point throughout training camp or the preseason, once ready to practice, but it's likely more realistic to still consider him out indefinitely. Horton is reportedly in remission and recently completed his final in-hospital treatment.
