Troy Andersen Latest News
Out for Week 11
Andersen (knee) is out for Sunday's game against the Broncos. Andersen returned last week from his five-game absence but played just 13 defensive snaps and aggravated his preexisting knee injury. The Falcons will continue to rely on Kaden Elliss and Nate Landman at linebacker.
Limited in Wednesday's walkthrough
Andersen (knee) was listed as a limited participant for Wednesday's estimated injury report, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports. Andersen aggravated a knee injury during the Falcons' 20-17 loss to the Saints this past Sunday. He was estimated as a limited Wednesday, so his practice participation over the next two days will provide clarity on his status for Week 11 against Denver.
Needs further evaluation
Andersen will undergo a reevaluation Monday after aggravating his knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Saints, Daniel Flick of SI.com reports. Andersen missed five games with the injury and although he felt well enough to return to action and suit up against the Saints, he ultimately ended up sidelined again. A clearer picture of his potential to play Week 11 against the Broncos likely won't come until later in the week.
Cleared to play Sunday
Andersen (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Saints and is expected to play. Andersen practiced fully all week and looks ready to return to action after missing the previous five contests. His return figures to send Nate Landman back to the bench, leaving Andersen and Kaden Elliss as Atlanta's top linebackers. Both should be busy against a run-heavy New Orleans offense missing numerous key wide receivers.
DNP again Thursday
Andersen (knee) remained sidelined at Thursday's practice, Daniel Flick of SI.com reports. Andersen has missed Atlanta's last five games, but coach Raheem Morris has continued to label him as day-to-day. He's likely going to need some form of practice participation Friday if he wants to have any chance of suiting up Sunday against the Saints. Kaden Elliss and Nate Landman have been filling in at linebacker.
Remains out
Andersen (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. Despite logging a full practice Friday, Andersen will miss a fifth straight game, leaving the door open for Kaden Elliss and Nate Landman to start again in the middle of Atlanta's defense. Andersen's next chance to suit up will be in Week 10 against New Orleans.
Questionable for Sunday
Andersen (knee) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Cowboys, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports. Andersen upgraded to full participation Friday after beginning the Falcons' week of practice with back-to-back limited sessions. However, his questionable designation suggests that he's still dealing with his knee injury in some capacity and could miss his fifth consecutive game Sunday. If Andersen can't play through the issue in Week 9, expect Nate Landman to serve as one of Atlanta's top inside linebackers.
Opens week with limited work
Andersen (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports. Andersen has missed each of the Falcons' last four games due to a knee injury sustained in the team's Week 4 win over the Saints. He practiced in a limited fashion last week and has begun Atlanta's new week of practice as a limited participant once again. His participation Thursday and Friday is likely the best indication of whether he can return in Week 9, when the Falcons host the Cowboys.
Looks iffy for Week 9
Head coach Raheem Morris stated Monday that Andersen (knee) is still day-to-day, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports. Andersen practiced in a limited fashion throughout Week 8 prep but ultimately was unable to suit up Sunday against Tampa Bay. His current day-to-day status implies his Week 9 availability is still up in the air, as the Montana State product works to return from a now four-game absence.
