The Colts failed Thomas' (forearm) physical Thursday after having claimed him off waivers from the 49ers on Wednesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Thomas hasn't yet fully healed from the forearm fracture he suffered during training camp, so he won't ultimately join Indianapolis' 53-man roster. The fourth-year pro will look to get fully healthy and then search for another opportunity to sign with a team.

Fails physical
The Colts failed Thomas' (forearm) physical Thursday after having claimed him off waivers from the 49ers on Wednesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Thomas hasn't yet fully healed from the forearm fracture he suffered during training camp, so he won't ultimately join Indianapolis' 53-man roster. The fourth-year pro will look to get fully healthy and then search for another opportunity to sign with a team.
Claimed by Indianapolis
The Colts claimed Thomas (forearm) off waivers Wednesday, Joel Erickson of IndyStar.com reports. Thomas has been on injured reserve for the entire regular season after he broke his forearm in a preseason game against the Titans in August. He was waived by the 49ers on Tuesday, but he has quickly found a new home with the Colts and will provide depth at linebacker behind Grant Stuard, Zaire Franklin and E.J. Speed (knee).
Released from IR
Thomas (forearm) was released from the 49ers' injured reserve Tuesday. Thomas has spent the entirety of the 2024 season on injured reserve with a broken forearm that he suffered in August. He will continue to focus on recovering from the injury and once healthy, the cornerback will shift his focus to finding his next opportunity in the league.
Opening season on IR
The 49ers placed Thomas (forearm) on injured reserve Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Thomas is underwent surgery to repair his right forearm, which he broke during the 49ers' preseason opener against the Titans. It's unclear when he'll be cleared to return to practice, but Thomas will be forced to miss at least the first four games of the regular season while on IR. The earliest he can return is Week 5 against the Cardinals on Oct. 6.
Requires surgery for forearm
Thomas will undergo surgery to repair his broken right forearm, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports. Thomas broke his right forearm in the first half of Saturday's preseason loss against the Titans. The recovery from his surgery will keep the 2021 third-round pick sidelined for multiple weeks. With Thomas on the shelf, the 49ers will try out Renardo Green, Samuel Womack and Rock Ya-Sin to serve as the second starting corner opposite Charvarius Ward.
Breaks forearm vs. Tennessee
Thomas suffered a broken forearm in the 49ers' 17-13 preseason loss to the Titans on Saturday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports. Thomas left shortly before halftime Saturday and finished the contest with one tackle. The injury will mean a multi-week absence for the 2021 third-round pick that could extend into the first few games of the regular season. With Thomas sidelined, Isaac Yiadom and Rock Ya-Sin are the top candidates to push for the second starting job at corner opposite Charvarius Ward.
Ruled out with forearm injury
Thomas will not return to Saturday's preseason game against the Titans due to a forearm injury. Thomas sustained the injury shortly before halftime and took a cart to the locker room. He'll finish the 49ers' preseason opener with one tackle. Expect Isaac Yiadom, Rock Ya-Sin, Chase Lucas and Samuel Womack to see more time at corner in the second half of Saturday's game.
