Activated Monday
Avila (knee) was activated from injured reserve Monday. Avila sustained a knee injury in the Rams' Week 1 loss to the Lions and hasn't taken the field since. However, his activation indicates that he'll make his return in Monday night's matchup against the Dolphins. Now that Avila has moved past his knee issue, he's expected to serve as the Rams' top center.
Gets okay to practice again
The Rams designated Avila (knee) for return to practice from their injured reserve list Thursday. Avila needed surgery to address a sprained MCL he suffered in Week 1 at Detroit, but it seems he's now close to playing again for the first time since then. The Rams' official practice reports during the week should shed some light on his potential availability for Monday's game versus the Dolphins.
Undergoes MCL surgery
Avila (knee) underwent successful knee surgery Thursday, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports. Avila suffered a sprained MCL in the Rams' season-opening loss to Detroit and landed on IR on Wednesday. It's not clear exactly how much time he'll miss, but the offensive lineman will need to sit out at least the Rams' next four games. Jonah Jackson will likely slide over to left guard while Beaux Limmer takes over at center.
Officially hits IR
The Rams placed Avila (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday. After suffering an MCL sprain in the Rams' Week 1 loss to the Lions, Avila will have to spend at least the next four games on IR, making his earliest possible return date Oct. 20 versus the Raiders. The Rams are likely to shift Jonah Jackson over from center to fill in for Avila at left guard.
Possibly on track for IR
Coach Sean McVay said Monday that Avila (knee) is a candidate for the Rams' injured reserve list, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. Given that the diagnosis of the injury he picked up during Sunday's loss at Detroit is an MCL sprain, it would be less than surprising to see Avila end up on injured reserve. If he does, Jonah Jackson will probably step in as the Rams' starting left guard.
Suffers MCL sprain
Avila sustained an MCL sprain during Sunday night's 26-20 loss to the Lions, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Rapoport also reported that Avila will undergo further testing Monday to determine the severity of his MCL sprain. Regardless of the severity of Avila's injury, Jonah Jackson is expected to slide over to left guard, and Logan Bruss will likely assume the Rams' first-team center duties until Avila recovers.
Done for night
Avila suffered a knee injury and has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's contest against the Lions. Avila will be forced to sit out the rest of the game after picking up an apparent knee injury. Jonah Jackson shifted over to left guard while Logan Bruss took over at center following Avila's departure.
