Practices in full Thursday
Decker (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday. The starting left tackle was a limited participant in Wednesday's session. After missing Detroit's Week 10 win over the Texans, Decker is trending toward returning for the team's Week 11 matchup with the Jaguars. Decker has started all eight games he's appeared in this season and all 120 that he's played in over the course of his career.
Won't play in Week 10
Decker (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Houston. Decker popped up on Thursday's injury report due to a shoulder injury. It kept him out of practice Friday, and it appears the injury is severe enough for Decker to be sidelined for Sunday's game. His next chance at suiting up will be Week 11 against Jacksonville on Sunday, Nov. 17. Dan Skipper and Colby Sorsdal are the top candidates to start at left tackle in Decker's absence.
Cleared to play Week 9
Decker (chest) does not have an injury designation for Sunday's matchup against the Packers. Decker began the week missing practice due to a chest issue, but he returned to a limited session Thursday before practicing in full Friday. He'll thus be able to take on his usual role as Detroit's starting left tackle Sunday versus Green Bay.
Misses Wednesday's practice
Decker (chest) didn't practice Wednesday, Colton Pouncy of The Athletic reports. Decker played 42 offensive snaps in Sunday's blowout win over the Titans, but it appears he sustained a chest injury in the process. The Ohio State product will likely need to upgrade to at least limited participation Thursday or Friday in order to play in Week 9, when the Lions travel to Green Bay.
Inks extension with Detroit
The Lions signed Decker to a three-year, $60 million contract extension Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Decker is slated to make $13.7 million under his current contract in 2024, and this extension will keep him in Detroit through the 2027 season. The 2016 first-round pick out of Ohio State has started all 112 regular-season games that he's appeared in since entering the league, and he's expected to remain the Lions' top left tackle for the foreseeable future.
Recovered from offseason surgery
Decker said Tuesday he underwent foot/ankle surgery this offseason and resumed working out mid-February, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports. Decker appears already recovered from his offseason procedure. The 30-year-old left tackle missed only two regular-season games last season while suiting up for all three of Detroit's postseason contests. Now heading into the final year of his contract, Decker is still playing at a high level.
