Reed (calf) is practicing Thursday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. Coach Matt LaFleur apparently wasn't kidding when he said there was no long-term concern about Reed's calf injury -- the wideout is back at practice after missing just one day. Reed is locked in as Green Bay's slot man in three-wide formations, but there is some question about how much playing time he'll get in 12 personnel with two tight ends. The good news for fantasy managers is that Reed was a clear priority whenever he was on the field last year, drawing targets on a team-high 23.1 percent of routes and taking 11 carries for 119 yards and two TDs. If that kind of usage continues (or improves), he'll stay relevant for fantasy even without the two-wide snaps.

Returns to practice

No concern about calf injury
Coach Matt LaFleur said Thursday that there's no long-term concern about Reed's calf injury, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. It sounds like Reed won't be out for long, after first missing practice Wednesday. That said, the Packers have a well-earned reputation for being cautious with injuries, so Reed figures to miss additional practices even if his calf issue doesn't elevate to the level that would cause him to miss a game in the regular season. He's locked in as Green Bay's slot man in three-wide formations, but there is some question about how much playing time he'll get in 12 personnel with two tight ends. The good news for fantasy managers is that Reed was a clear priority whenever he was on the field last year, drawing targets on a team-high 23.1 percent of routes and taking 11 carries for 119 yards and two TDs. Managing calf injury
Reed (calf) is not practicing Wednesday, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports. Reed missed the start of training camp due to a toe injury, and the second-year pro is now dealing with a calf issue. There's not yet any reason to believe that Reed is facing anything too significant, but it could be enough to prevent him from taking the field with Jordan Love and the rest of the starting offense to kick off Saturday's road exhibition matchup against the Browns. Of note, any time Reed spends sidelined will provide a clearer path for Dontayvion Wicks and Bo Melton to take regular reps with the first-team.
Back participating in practice
Reed (toe) is practicing with the team Saturday, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports. Reed was activated off the non-football injury list earlier this week after recovering from a minor toe injury suffered earlier in the summer. The second-year wideout joins the newly minted highest-paid player in the NFL, Jordan Love, who also made his triumphant return to practice Saturday after signing his massive extension Friday. Reed is primed to be one of the team's most explosive options in a wideout group brimming with potential.
Activated from NFI list
Reed (toe) will be activated from the non-football injury list and practice in a limited capacity Wednesday, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Reed was on the NFI list for just a couple days, after suffering a seemingly minor injury during his youth camp earlier this summer. He finished his 2023 rookie season as the team leader in catches (64), receiving yards (793), yards from scrimmage (912) and total touchdowns (10), and his success working out of the slot hints at role security even though the Packers have a deep group of pass catchers that also includes WRs Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks and Bo Melton. It is possible that depth impacts Reed's target volume as well as his playing time in two-wide formations, but there's no doubt he'll be a regular presence and priority when the Packers have three WRs on the field.
Should practice soon
Reed (undisclosed) is dealing with a minor injury and shouldn't be on the non-football injury list for long, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. Packers GM Brian Gutekunst told reporters Monday that Reed "tweaked something" during his youth camp this summer. The Packers' leading receiver from 2023 won't practice at the start of training camp, but it doesn't sound like there's any concern about his Week 1 status. Reed mostly worked the slot as a rookie and figures to again get most of his playing time inside, perhaps insulating him from competition while Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks and Bo Melton battle for perimeter snaps.
Unavailable for start of camp
Reed (undisclosed) will open the Packers' training camp on the active/non-football injury list, Bill Huber of SI.com reports. Reed will be on the sidelines as Green Bay kicks off their training camp Monday, dealing with an undisclosed non-football injury. The wide receiver is eligible to return to practice at any point and ultimately play this preseason, which the Packers will begin on the road at Cleveland on Aug. 10.
Questionable for Week 13
Reed opened Week 13 prep with back-to-back absences due to a chest injury that has lingered since a Week 11 win against the Chargers, but his return to the field in some capacity Friday has him in a position to miss no game action as a result. He was able to play through the issue during the Packers' win in Detroit on Thanksgiving, hauling in four of eight targets for 34 yards and one touchdown and taking two carries for 16 yards. Reed's availability won't be confirmed until about 90 minutes before Sunday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff.
Returns to practice
After back-to-back missed practices, Reed's return at the end of the week seemingly gives him a shot to play Sunday night against the Chiefs. He's still only third among Packers WRs in snaps and routes most weeks -- behind Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson -- but the rookie nonetheless is averaging 5.4 targets per game and took five carries the past two weeks (in addition to 14 targets).
