Covey (shoulder) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. The Eagles designated Covey to return from injured reserve Wednesday, and he opened the week strong as a full participant for Philadelphia's first official practice. If he's able practice without limitations over the next two days, Covey could be activated off IR and be available for Sunday's game against the Rams. Over the first three games of the regular season, he logged seven catches on as many targets for 34 yards.

Logs full practice in return
Covey (shoulder) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. The Eagles designated Covey to return from injured reserve Wednesday, and he opened the week strong as a full participant for Philadelphia's first official practice. If he's able practice without limitations over the next two days, Covey could be activated off IR and be available for Sunday's game against the Rams. Over the first three games of the regular season, he logged seven catches on as many targets for 34 yards.
Returning to practice
Covey (shoulder) has been designated to return from injured reserve and will practice Wednesday, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports. Covey has been sidelined since Week 3 by the injury, but his return to the field is officially in motion. He'll now have a 21-day window to practice with the team before he needs to be added to the active roster, but he could play as soon as Sunday against the Rams if he's healthy enough to do so.
Still nursing shoulder issue
Covey (shoulder) has not been designated to return to practice from the injured reserve list after Week 11, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports. Covey has missed the Eagles' last seven games due to a broken shoulder he suffered in Week 3 at New Orleans, and it appears he'll probably have to sit out at least one more as Week 12 approaches. It also looks like he may have a slightly different role awaiting him when he returns, as special teams coordinator Michael Clay said Tuesday that rookie second-rounder Cooper DeJean would retain a spot in Philadelphia's punt-return unit even after Covey becomes available again.
Won't need shoulder surgery
Covey said Thursday that he won't require surgery on the shoulder injury that forced his placement on injured reserve Tuesday, and he'll be out approximately six weeks, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. Covey clarified that he suffered two fractures in the shoulder in question, which he sustained this past Sunday at New Orleans, and a stint on IR means he must miss at least the next four games. Because the Eagles have a Week 5 bye, he may be able to return to action when first eligible Sunday, Nov. 3 against the Jaguars. In the meantime, Cooper DeJean is expected to handle punt returns for Philadelphia, while Jahan Dotson and Johnny Wilson are the healthy WRs on the active roster with A.J. Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion) tending to health concerns.
Heads to IR
The Eagles placed Covey (shoulder) on injured reserve Tuesday. Though the Eagles haven't provided a precise diagnosis of the shoulder injury Covey sustained in Sunday's 15-12 win over the Saints, his move to IR ensures that he'll miss at least the next four games. Philadelphia signed tight end Jack Stoll to the 53-man roster in a corresponding move, while Cooper DeJean is likely in line to serve as the Eagles' punt returner in Covey's absence.
Arm in sling after Week 3 win
Covey (shoulder) had his arm in a sling after Sunday's 15-12 win over the Saints, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Covey and DeVonta Smith (concussion) both exited the game, and the Eagles were already without wide receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring). While Covey isn't nearly as integral to the offense as Brown or Smith, Covey also fills an important special teams role as Philadelphia's punt returner. Cooper DeJean filled in as the punt returner after Covey's exit and would likely retain that role if the wide receiver is unable to suit up against the Buccaneers in Week 4.
Ruled out Sunday
Covey (shoulder) won't return to Sunday's game in New Orleans, Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Covey thus will finish Week 3 with one catch (on one target) for 11 yards. With A.J. Brown (hamstring) inactive, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson and Parris Campbell are the current healthy wide receivers on the Eagles' active roster.
Injures shoulder Sunday
Covey suffered a shoulder injury during Sunday's game at New Orleans. Covey took advantage of A.J. Brown's (hamstring) absence Week 2 against the Falcons, hauling in all six of his targets for 23 yards. However, he was targeted only once (an 11-yard catch) before exiting Sunday in the second quarter. Currently, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson and Parris Campbell are the healthy wide receivers on the Eagles' active roster.
Reels in six grabs
Covey reeled in all six of his targets for 23 yards in Monday's 22-21 loss to the Falcons. With A.J. Brown (hamstring) sidelined Monday, Covey saw an increase in his playing time and target share in Week 2. The third-year wideout's six targets and six catches were second only to Devonta Smith among Philadelphia's pass catchers. Operating as the Eagles' fourth wide receiver on a team flush with playmakers, Covey will more often than not see limited opportunities in Philadelphia's offense, especially when Brown returns from his injury. Nonetheless, the 27-year-old will have another chance to take a step forward when the Eagles visit the Saints in Week 3.
