Tomlinson reverted to the Chargers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Tomlinson was elevated to the active roster for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers and served as the No. 3 tight end behind Stone Smartt and Tucker Fisk due to Will Dissly (shoulder) being sidelined. Tomlinson played in nine of the Chargers' 52 offensive snaps but did not show up in the box score. Tomlinson could be elevated for Thursday's game against the Broncos if Dissly is unable to progress in his recovery enough to play.

Back to practice squad
Tomlinson reverted to the Chargers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Tomlinson was elevated to the active roster for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers and served as the No. 3 tight end behind Stone Smartt and Tucker Fisk due to Will Dissly (shoulder) being sidelined. Tomlinson played in nine of the Chargers' 52 offensive snaps but did not show up in the box score. Tomlinson could be elevated for Thursday's game against the Broncos if Dissly is unable to progress in his recovery enough to play.
Receives elevation for Week 15
The Chargers elevated Tomlinson from their practice squad to their active roster Saturday in advance of Sunday's battle versus the Buccaneers, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. Tomlinson began the campaign on Los Angeles' active roster and caught two of four targets for nine yards through eight contests. The veteran tight end was released in early November but quickly signed to the team's practice squad, and he'll get his first elevation Sunday. Tomlinson is needed as a depth option at tight end with Will Dissly (shoulder) ruled out against Tampa Bay.
Staying in Los Angeles
The Chargers signed Tomlinson to the practice squad Wednesday. The Chargers released Tomlinson on Tuesday, but the 32-year-old tight end will opt to stick around on the practice squad. He's split his time between offense and special teams this season and has registered two catches (on four targets) for nine yards across eight regular-season games.
Let go by Bolts
The Chargers released Tomlinson on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Tomlinson caught two passes (on four targets) for nine yards across eight regular-season games for the Chargers. He'll look to catch on with a team in need of depth at wide receiver.
Records first reception of season
Tomlinson recorded a seven-yard reception on his lone target and played 22 of the Chargers' 66 snaps on offense in Monday's 17-15 loss to the Cardinals. With Hayden Hurst (groin) sitting out Monday after missing most of the Chargers' Week 6 win over the Broncos, Tomlinson served as the No. 2 tight end behind Will Dissly for a second straight contest. Tomlinson ran routes on just six of Justin Herbert's 42 dropbacks, instead served mainly as a pass and run blocker during his time on the field. He'll see his playing time take a hit if Hurst is able to make it back for Sunday's game agains the Saints.
Signed to Bolts' active roster
The Chargers signed Tomlinson from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday. The move corresponds with DJ Chark (hip) being placed on injured reserve. Tomlinson caught on with the Chargers' practice squad after failing to make the Colts' 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp. The 11-year veteran will serve as the fourth tight end on the Chargers' depth chart behind Will Dissly, Hayden Hurst and Stone Smartt.
Links up with Bolts
Tomlinson signed with the Chargers' practice squad Thursday, Eric Smith of the team's official site reports. The UTEP product fell short of making the Colts' initial 53-man roster Tuesday and has since agreed to join the Chargers' practice squad. Tomlinson spent time with both the Ravens' and Colts' practice squads last season, but his most recent in-game action came in 2022 with the Broncos.
Cut loose by Indianapolis
The Colts released Tomlinson on Tuesday, JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports. Tomlinson spent time on both the Ravens' and Colts' practice squads in 2023, though he was not elevated for a game. He stuck around with Indianapolis on a reserve/future contract in January in the hopes of making the 53-man roster as a depth tight end. Across three preseason games, Tomlinson accumulated two catches on four targets for 24 yards. He could be invited to stick around in Indianapolis on the practice squad, or he could look to a join a different team in need of tight end depth.
Gets let go
Tomlinson returned to Baltimore after a one-year stint with the Broncos on a practice squad deal in early October. The veteran tight end never found his way to the active roster and will likely pursue new opportunities elsewhere.
