Anthony Edwards Latest News
Efficient in victory
Edwards finished Sunday's 120-117 win over Phoenix with 24 points (9-14 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six assists, four rebounds and one steal across 39 minutes. Edwards has been extremely consistent in the 2024-25 campaign, during which he has posted 14 straight games with 21 or more points. The superstar had another efficient outing from the field and made three-plus threes for the 13th time in 14 regular-season outings. In that 14-game span, Edwards has averaged 28.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.1 steals across 37.1 minutes per game. The 23-year-old leads the NBA in three-pointers made, and he has shot 42.4 percent from beyond the arc thus far.
Pours in 36 in OT win
Edwards posted 36 points (14-27 FG, 6-14 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and two assists over 42 minutes during Friday's 130-126 overtime victory over the Kings. It's the fifth time in 13 games to begin the season that Edwards has delivered at least 30 points, and the fifth-year forward has yet to score less than 21. Swapping Karl-Anthony Towns out for Julius Randle this offseason seems to have benefitted Edwards the most -- he's attempting a career-high 21.5 shots, including 10.1 three-pointers, a game, leading to what would be a career-high 28.4 points and 4.9 threes.
Posts 24 points in defeat
Edwards logged 24 points (10-25 FG, 0-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists, one block and four steals in 40 minutes during Wednesday's 106-98 loss to the Trail Blazers. Edwards missed all nine of his three-point attempts as the Trail Blazers completed a two-game sweep of the Timberwolves in decisive fashion. His move to point guard amid Mike Conley's (rest) absence didn't have much effect on his stat line, although he recorded a season-high four steals in the loss.
Scores 26 in loss to Portland
Edwards registered 26 points (8-19 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three assists, one block and two steals in 37 minutes during Tuesday's 122-108 loss to the Trail Blazers. Naz Reid led the way for Minnesota in this loss with 28 points off the bench, but Edwards delivered a solid output across the board despite the defeat. The star guard continues to play at a high level for the Timberwolves, and this was his 11th game with at least 20 points. More than the scoring figures, the efficiency is standing out -- he's shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 45.3 percent from beyond the arc, with both being career-best figures for the fifth-year veteran.
Productive again in loss
Edwards recorded a team-high 22 points (8-24 FG, 4-14 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds, six assists and two steals in 37 minutes during Sunday's 95-94 loss to the Heat. It's a testament to how good a start to the season Edwards has had that this was actually one of his quieter efforts. The fifth-year forward has yet to score less than 21 points in a game, averaging 28.3 points, 5.8 boards, 5.4 threes, 3.8 assists and 1.4 combined steals and blocks through the first 10 contests of 2024-25, and he's on pace for career-high shooting rates with a 47.1 percent mark from the floor and 45.8 percent from long distance. Edwards has massively increased his shot volume from beyond the arc -- he's averaging 11.8 three-point attempts a game after putting up just 6.7 a game last season.
Shines with 37-point display Friday
Edwards supplied 37 points (12-22 FG, 9-15 3Pt, 4-5 FT), six rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal over 30 minutes during Friday's 127-102 win over the Trail Blazers. Edwards continues to be one of the most lethal scorers in the NBA during the first weeks of the 2024-25 regular season, and he's not showing any signs of slowing down. The star guard has scored at least 30 points four times already, and aside from the fact he's averaging 29.0 points per game, his efficiency is what stands out the most. Edwards is shooting 48.9 percent from the field and 48.1 percent from deep, and both figures would be career-high marks for him.
Efficient performance in win
Edwards ended with 33 points (13-23 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, six assists and one block across 35 minutes during Thursday's 135-119 victory over the Bulls. The Timberwolves got off to a slow start in this game, but Edwards eventually took over and carried Minnesota to a huge win on the road. The star shooting guard surpassed the 30-point mark for the third time in eight appearances this season, and his role as Minnesota's go-to player on offense is set in stone. Scoring numbers aside, Edwards' improvement as a three-point specialist is worth noting -- he's averaging more than 5.0 made threes per game.
Seven threes in Friday's win
Edwards racked up 29 points (11-23 FG, 7-14 3Pt), four rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal in 38 minutes during Friday's 119-116 win over Denver. The fifth-year superstar led Minnesota in scoring on the night, and his close-range floater inside the final 30 seconds of the fourth quarter proved to be the winning bucket. Edwards has scored at least 24 points in five straight games to begin the season, and he's been an absolute monster from the beyond the arc, draining at least five threes in every contest so far while averaging a league-high 13.4 long-distance attempts a game.
Efficient scoring in loss
Edwards tallied 37 points (12-20 FG, 7-13 3Pt, 6-12 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one block in Tuesday's 120-114 loss to the Mavericks. Edwards erupted for 25 points in the first quarter but then cooled off the rest of the game. Still, the star guard finished with a game-high 37 points. Edwards has made at least five threes in all four of his appearances this season.
