Brandon Boston Latest News
Returns to bench
Boston isn't in the starting five for Friday's game versus the Grizzlies. Boston will be replaced by Trey Murphy in the starting lineup Friday. Boston is averaging 10.8 points, 3.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 24.8 minutes across his last five appearances coming off the bench.
Back in starting lineup
Boston will start Wednesday's game against the Raptors, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports. CJ McCollum and Dejounte Murray are available, but Brandon Ingram (calf) and Trey Murphy (knee) are out, so Boston will slide back into the starting lineup. As a starter this season (nine games), Boston has averaged 14.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 35.2 minutes per game.
Moving to bench
Boston isn't in the starting five for Friday's game versus the Warriors. Boston will head to the bench with the returns of Brandon Ingram and Trey Murphy to the starting five. Boston is averaging 7.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steals in 16.5 minutes across his four appearances coming off the bench this season.
Sniffs double-double in loss
Boston recorded 12 points (4-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, five assists and a steal across 36 minutes in Saturday's 104-99 loss to the Lakers. Boston had a rough shooting performance Saturday and needed 12 shots to score 12 points. Even though Boston finished just two boards away from a double-double, the shooting woes continue to plague him. He's now failed to reach the 15-point mark in three of his last four appearances while shooting 17-for-48 from the field in that stretch.
Bounces back Friday
Boston chipped in 19 points (7-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one steal in 38 minutes during Friday's 101-94 victory over Denver. Boston was coming off two consecutive single-digit scoring performances where he struggled with his shot, but he bounced back admirably in this one. The Pelicans need Boston to perform at a high level amid their injury woes, and he's been up to the challenge even when factoring in those two subpar efforts in the losses to Brooklyn and Oklahoma City. Through six starts, Boston is averaging 15.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 45.6 percent from the field.
Struggles with shot Wednesday
Boston provided eight points (3-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals over 31 minutes during Wednesday's 106-88 loss to the Thunder. Boston scored in double digits in five games in a row amid a stretch in which he got promoted to the starting lineup due to the rash of injuries the Pelicans are going through. However, he's struggled massively with his shot over his last two contests, scoring a combined 15 points while going 6-for-23 from the field in that span. He's done enough to remain valuable in fantasy due to his contributions in other categories, however, as he's tallied 17 boards, 14 assists and five steals in that two-game stretch as well. That said, he needs to improve his scoring figures because he'll remain with a prominent role in the Pelicans' offensive scheme as long as they stay as depleted as they are right now.
Packs stat sheet
Boston logged seven points (3-13 FG, 1-4 3Pt), seven rebounds, 10 assists and three steals in 35 minutes during Monday's 107-105 loss to Brooklyn. Boston took a step back in terms of scoring after posting a 26-point night Friday against Orlando. However, he set new top marks on the season in rebounds, assists and steals to make up for a sluggish shooting performance. It's clear Boston will continue to handle a prominent role in the offense until his squad can get healthy.
Scores season-high 26 points
Boston registered 26 points (10-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, three assists and two steals in 38 minutes during Friday's 115-88 loss to the Magic. Boston is the next man up in a depleted Pelicans backcourt, but he's putting up decent numbers since being handed a more prominent role. He's scored at least 20 points in two of his three starts and is averaging 17.6 points per game in games in which he's logged at least 20 minutes, a trend that should continue for the foreseeable future.
Productive in second start
Boston notched 14 points (4-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, five assists and one block in 38 minutes during Wednesday's 131-122 loss to the Cavaliers. While he couldn't match the 20 points he delivered Monday against the Trail Blazers, Boston was productive again in his second straight start and just the third of his NBA career. The former Clipper has stepped into a bigger role with both CJ McCollum (thigh) and Dejounte Murray (hand) on the shelf, averaging 15.5 points, 3.8 assists, 3.0 boards, 1.8 threes and 1.0 steals in 32.0 minutes over the last four contests. Boston seems to have leapfrogged 2023 first-round pick Jordan Hawkins on the depth chart at shooting guard for the time being.
