George has been ruled out for the remainder of Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies due to a left knee hyperextension, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports. George landed awkwardly early in the third quarter of the contest and suffered a left knee hyperextension. The 34-year-old missed the first five games of the 2024-25 campaign with a bone bruise in the same knee. He finishes Wednesday's tilt with two points (1-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and a steal across 17 minutes. Ricky Council, Eric Gordon and Kelly Oubre could see additional run down the stretch. George's next chance to play will come Friday against Brooklyn. Per Jones, George will have an MRI done Thursday morning.

Paul George Latest News
Won't return Wednesday
Goes to locker room
George exited Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies with an ankle injury and went back to the locker room, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. George has already missed six games this season and appears to have rolled his ankle in Wednesday's contest. While George is sidelined, Eric Gordon, Kelly Oubre and Ricky Council could see more action.
Still struggling with shot
George totaled 18 points (5-13 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 7-9 FT), six rebounds, five assists and three steals over 33 minutes during Monday's 106-89 loss to the Heat. While his overall production was solid, George once again had trouble getting his shot to fall. In his first seven games with Philly since getting past a knee issue, the 34-year-old is shooting just 39.6 percent from the floor and 28.8 percent from beyond the arc while averaging 16.7 points, 5.6 boards, 5.1 assists, 2.4 steals and 2.1 threes. The Sixers have yet to feature their new Big Three of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey (hamstring) and George on the court at the same time, so it could be a while before the newest member of the trio finds his comfort level.
Logs four steals Friday
George racked up 13 points (4-15 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, five assists and four steals over 36 minutes during Friday's 98-86 loss to the Magic. George was responsible for four of the 76ers' 10 steals Friday which somewhat made up for his short comings on offense, though he did finish as Philadelphia's third-leading scorer behind Jared McCain (29) and Joel Embiid (20). Through six regular-season games, George is averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.3 steals over 30.2 minutes per game.
Out Wednesday, will play Friday
George (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game versus Cleveland, but head coach Nick Nurse said that the forward will play Friday against the Magic while operating without a minutes restriction, Kyle Neubeck of AllPHLY.com reports. George had already logged 33 and 32 minutes in his last two games, but he could see his playing time push into the mid-to-upper 30s Friday if the contest is competitive throughout. Though he missed the 76ers' first five games of the season, George returned to play each of the last five contests and averaged 17.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 2.2 three-pointers and 2.0 steals.
Won't play Wednesday
George has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Cavaliers due to left knee injury management, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. George and Joel Embiid (knee) will both rest for the second half of Philadelphia's back-to-back set, opening up plenty of minutes for several other player. In Tuesday's 111-99 loss to the Knicks, George had his best game of the season, posting 29 points (10-19 FG, 7-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block in 32 minutes. George should return to action Friday in Orlando.
Pops for 29 in Tuesday's loss
George supplied a game-high 29 points (10-19 FG, 7-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists, one block and three steals in 32 minutes during Tuesday's 111-99 loss to the Knicks. Joel Embiid made his season debut for the Sixers on Tuesday, but it was George who led the team in scoring and rebounding. The veteran forward needed a few games to get his legs under him after his own belated start to the season, but while George's offense has been inconsistent, he's found other ways to contribute. Through five contests, the 34-year-old is averaging 17.2 points and 2.2 threes while shooting 42.5 percent from the floor and 30.6 percent from beyond the arc, but he's added 5.8 boards, 5.2 assists and 2.0 steals a game.
Nears double-double in overtime win
George contributed 15 points (6-18 FG, 1-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, nine assists and two steals across 33 minutes during Sunday's 107-105 overtime win over the Hornets. George paved the way for the Philadelphia starting lineup in a game that was led by the 76ers bench, leading all Philadelphia starters in scoring while handing out a game-best assist total in an overtime victory. George set a new season high in assists and has played well since making his debut Nov. 4, posting at least 15 points and four dimes in three of his four outings.
On minutes restriction
Head coach Nick Nurse is hoping to get George at least 25 minutes in Friday's matchup with the Lakers, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports. George has played 32 and 24 minutes respectively in his first two games after missing the first five to start the season. The 76ers will continue to manage the veteran wing's playing time as he recovers from a bone bruise in his left knee. The 34-year-old is averaging 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals, 0.5 blocks and 1.5 triples since debuting with Philadelphia.
