Whittington returned one kick for 24 yards and failed to record a target during Sunday's 28-22 win against the Patriots. Whittington's role since the return of Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp has been non-existent, and he hasn't managed a catch since Week 5. The sixth-round rookie's role seems to be focused on special teams at the moment (16 snaps on special teams versus five snaps on offense), and he'll continue to compete with Tutu Atwell, Tyler Johnson and Xavier Smith for a meager amount of snaps as the backups to Nacua, Kupp and Demarcus Robinson.

Jordan Whittington Latest News
Gets light usage as returner
Gets back to full practice Thursday
Whittington (shoulder) practiced fully Thursday, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. Despite missing a second game in a row this past Sunday at Seattle due to a shoulder injury, Whittington was able to string together three consecutive limited practices last week. This time around, he doesn't have any restrictions, indicating that he's past the health concern. With Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua back in action, Whittington will find snaps and targets difficult to come by, but if Demarcus Robinson (toe/hip), who didn't practice Thursday, is inhibited or out Monday against the Dolphins, Whittington would be a candidate to step in behind the top WR duo.
Sitting out again Sunday
Whittington (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's game at Seattle, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports. Whittington thus is missing a second straight contest due to a shoulder injury, but he was able to practice in a limited capacity in all three Week 9 practices, indicating he's drawing closer to a return to action. With Whittington sidelined, Tutu Atwell, Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson and Xavier Smith will be the tertiary wide receivers behind the top duo of Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.
Deemed questionable
Whittington (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. Whittington was a limited practice participant Wednesday through Friday, after playing limited snaps Week 7 and sitting out Week 8 entirely. The participation level is an upgrade from last week, leaving both Whittington and fellow Rams wideout Puka Nacua (knee) questionable for Sunday's game.
Stays limited in practice
Whittington (shoulder) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. With back-to-back capped sessions under his belt this week, Whittington already has managed more work than he did a week ago before he sat out last Thursday's win against the Vikings. Meanwhile, Puka Nacua aggravated his right knee injury during this Thursday's session, which could set the stage for Whittington to regain some sway in the Rams offense if he's able to suit up Sunday in Seattle and Nacua again is forced to miss time. In the end, Friday's practice report could shed some light on the overall state of L.A.'s receiving corps.
To be limited Wednesday
Coach Sean McVay said Whittington (shoulder) will be limited at Wednesday's practice, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports. Whittington managed just one capped session last week before the Rams ruled him out for a Week 8 matchup with the Vikings. He'll thus aim to string together multiple appearances this week as L.A. preps for Sunday's visit to the Seahawks. Even when Whittington is cleared to return, though, he'll find snaps and targets difficult to come by with Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua again available to the offense.
Not playing Thursday
Whittington (shoulder) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Vikings, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Whittington earned some sway in a Rams passing game missing Puka Nacua (knee) since Week 1 and Cooper Kupp (ankle) since Week 2, culminating with 13 combined catches (on 18 targets) for 151 yards between Weeks 4 and 5. However, Whittington emerged from a Week 5 loss to the Packers with a shoulder injury, and even with the benefit of a Week 6 bye, he handled just nine offensive snaps and wasn't targeted this past Sunday versus the Raiders. Now that Whittington is out Week 8, Kupp will be available, Nacua is listed as questionable but remains on injured reserve, and Tutu Atwell, Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson and Xavier Smith all are healthy, which may not leave much work for Whittington once he gets healthy.
Returns to practice Tuesday
Whittington (shoulder) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice session, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Whittington played through a shoulder injury during the Rams' Week 7 win over the Raiders, though he finished the game with zero targets. The rookie sixth-round pick was listed as a DNP on Monday's practice estimate, but he was able to see the field during Tuesday's session. Barring any setbacks, he should be good to go for Thursday's game against the Vikings, though Whittington would likely see his offensive snaps significantly decrease should one or both of Puka Nacua (knee) and Cooper Kupp (ankle) return.
Estimated as non-practice participant
Whittington (shoulder) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. Per Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site, coach Sean McVay noted Monday that Whittington being limited to nine snaps on offense versus the Raiders on Sunday was a result of the wideout not being able to practice a lot last week due to his shoulder injury. With that in mind, McVay added that he hopes Whittington will have "a little bit more of a workload" Thursday night against the Vikings.
