George will not return to Tuesday's game versus the Cavaliers due to a left ankle sprain, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. He tallied zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt), six rebounds, two assists and one block across 11 minutes before exiting. George went down in the second quarter and limped back to the locker room before eventually being ruled out for the remainder of the NBA Cup matchup. With the rookie and Corey Kispert both sustaining ankle injuries in the second quarter, Carlton Carrington, Jared Butler and Johnny Davis could serve as the Wizards' main reserve guards/wings for the rest of the evening.

Ruled out rest of way Tuesday
Heads to locker room Tuesday
George went back to the locker room with an apparent left ankle injury during the second quarter of Tuesday's game against the Cavaliers, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com reports. The rookie went down after contesting a shot attempt from Donovan Mitchell, and George limped to the bench before heading to the locker room. If the 20-year-old forward is unable to return, Carlton Carrington and Anthony Gill are candidates for a slight uptick in playing time.
Plays 26 minutes in rout
George posted two points (1-6 FG, 0-3 3Pt), four rebounds and one assist in 26 minutes during Wednesday's 121-96 loss to the Clippers. Although he was moved to bench in Jordan Poole's (hip) return to action, George was still able to play 26 minutes in Wednesday's blowout loss to the Clippers. While his performance was muted, George could find himself garnering more playing time with an uptick in fantasy value once again after Kyle Kuzma exited Wednesday's game due to a rib injury. George would be a candidate to rejoin Washington's starting lineup if Kuzma is unable to play in Saturday's matchup with the Bucks. In his six appearances as a starter this season, the rookie first-rounder is averaging 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steals in 31.7 minutes per game.
Back to bench
George won't start Wednesday's game against the Clippers. With Jordan Poole back in action after a two-game absence, George will shift to the bench. As a reserve this season (10 games), George has averaged 6.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 0.9 blocks in 25.1 minutes per game.
Balanced outing in start
George supplied 15 points (4-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds and five assists across 29 minutes during Sunday's 115-103 loss to the Pacers. George got the starting nod Sunday due to Jordan Poole (hip) being out, providing an all-around performance by concluding as the lone Wizards player with at least 10 points, five rebounds and five assists. George has now started in five games this year, reaching double figures in scoring in four of those five contests.
Starting Sunday
George will start Sunday's game against the Pacers, Varun Shankar of The Washington Post reports. With Jordan Poole (hip) out, George will enter the starting lineup. In four starts this season, George has averaged 13.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocks in 32.8 minutes per game.
Back to bench Monday
George is not in the Wizards' starting lineup for Monday's game against the Rockets. George has started in four of the Wizards' last five games, during which he averaged 13.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks across 33.0 minutes. However, George will revert to a reserve role Monday as Kyle Kuzma (groin) returns from a five-game absence. George should still be heavily utilized in Washington's rotation while coming off the bench.
Scores 15 points in loss
George chipped in 15 points (5-9 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and one steal over 34 minutes before fouling out of Sunday's 121-94 loss to the Magic. George moved back into the starting lineup Sunday, replacing Jonas Valanciunas. The Wizards may continue to tweak their lineups based on matchups, but with the amount of injuries they are dealing with, George is likely to see healthy workloads for the foreseeable future. Over his last four games, the rookie has averaged 14.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 3.3 three-pointers.
Back in starting lineup
George is in the Wizards' starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Magic, Varun Shankar of The Washington Post reports. George will make his fourth start in five games as he supplants Jonas Valanciunas from the starting lineup for Sunday's game. George has scored in double digits in three of his last four outings, and over that span, he has averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks over 32.8 minutes per game.
