McCain had 20 points (6-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), two rebounds and five assists over 41 minutes during Wednesday's 117-111 loss to Memphis. McCain's success as a rookie has been the lone bright spot for a reeling 76ers team, and the former Duke star has scored at least 20 points in six games in a row. He's firmly entrenched as a reliable scoring weapon just one month into the regular season, and McCain could be in line for an uptick in his usage rate if Paul George (knee) is forced to miss time. McCain is averaging 25.8 points per game since being promoted to the starting lineup four games ago.

Jared McCain Latest News
Extends scoring streak Wednesday
Leading scorer in Monday's loss
McCain accumulated 20 points (8-16 FG, 4-9 3Pt), four rebounds, four assists and two steals in 37 minutes during Monday's 106-89 loss to the Heat. The rookie guard led the Sixers in scoring on the night, even with Joel Embiid in the lineup for only the third time this season. McCain is red hot right now, scoring 20-plus points in five straight games while averaging 26.6 points, 4.4 assists, 4.4 threes, 2.6 boards and 0.8 steals in 33.4 minutes a contest, but his usage will take a hit once Tyrese Maxey (hamstring) is ready to return. McCain, the 16th overall pick in the 2024 Draft, has likely done enough to keep his spot in the starting five, however.
Leading scorer vs. Orlando
McCain recorded 29 points (10-17 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound and four assists across 31 minutes before fouling out of Friday's 98-86 loss to the Magic. Even with Joel Embiid and Paul George returning to action Friday, McCain remained in the 76ers' starting lineup off the heels of a career-high 34 points against the Cavaliers on Wednesday. McCain carried that momentum into Friday night, leading the 76ers in scoring while connecting on a team-high five three pointers. The rookie first-round pick is carving a big role for himself, and while his role will diminish when Tyrese Maxey returns from a right hamstring strain, McCain could remain in the starting lineup ahead of veteran Kyle Lowry. Over his last five games, McCain has averaged 26.2 points on 47.9 percent shooting (including 44.0 percent from three on 10.0 3PA/G), 4.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds over 32.2 minutes per contest.
Sticking in starting lineup
McCain will remain in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Magic, Gina Mizell of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. With Paul George (rest), Joel Embiid (rest) and Tyrese Maxey (hamstring) out, McCain made his first start of the season against Cleveland on Wednesday. The rookie exploded for 34 points, 10 assists and two steals in 38 minutes during a 114-106 loss. George and Embiid will be back in action Friday, but McCain is sticking in the starting lineup, sending Kelly Oubre and Guerschon Yabusele to the bench. Over his last four games, McCain has averaged 25.5 points on 45.5 percent shooting.
Explodes for career-high 34 points
McCain produced 34 points (12-26 FG, 6-13 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, 10 assists and two steals over 38 minutes during Wednesday's 114-106 loss to Cleveland. McCain continues to dominate on the offensive end, casually landing a career-high 34 points, while chipping in double-digit assists for the first time. The 76ers were without their three key pieces, affording McCain a ton of playing time. He has scored at least 23 points in three straight games and although this run will likely come to an abrupt end at some point, he is someone to monitor moving forward.
Earns first career start
McCain is part of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cavaliers. McCain has received at least 30 minutes in three straight games and averaged 22.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists on 45.1 percent shooting from the field. With Paul George (knee) sidelined Wednesday, the 76ers will reward McCain's recent success and give him a spot in the first unit. He'll slot in alongside Kyle Lowry in the backcourt.
Big night off bench
McCain posted 23 points (7-16 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes off the bench during Tuesday's 111-99 loss to the Knicks. The 16th overall pick in the 2024 Draft topped 20 points for the second straight game while draining at least three three-pointers for the third consecutive contest. McCain has quickly earned a significant role on the Sixers' second unit, and through six games in November, he's averaging 15.8 points, 2.3 threes, 2.2 boards and 1.7 assists in 20.7 minutes a contest.
Stays hot in career-best showcase
McCain totaled 27 points (10-18 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds and two assists across 31 minutes during Sunday's 107-105 overtime victory over the Hornets. McCain continued his recent hot stretch and strong start to his rookie campaign on Sunday by posting his best outing of his young career. McCain led all Philadelphia players in scoring and threes made, concluding with his first 20-point game of the year and three points shy of the 30-point mark. McCain has tallied at least 18 points in three outings this season, including in two straight games. He has also connected on at least three threes in two consecutive contests.
Drops team-high 18 in loss
McCain logged a team-high 18 points (6-17 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT) to go with two assists, one rebound and one steal in 31 minutes off the bench during Friday's 116-106 loss to the Lakers. No 76ers player reached 20 points on the night as Joel Embiid (knee/suspension) and Tyrese Maxey (hamstring) were both sidelined, and Paul George remained on a minutes restriction. McCain's production and court time have been erratic to begin his NBA career, but the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft has scored in double digits in three of the last five contests, averaging 11.4 points, 2.0 boards, 1.8 assists, 1.4 three-pointers and 0.6 steals in 17.0 minutes a game during that stretch.
