Back to bench Friday
Wallace is not in the Hawks' starting lineup for Friday's game against the Wizards, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Wallace made the first start of his NBA career Tuesday against the Celtics in place of Trae Young (Achilles), and the former finished with seven points, eight assists and two rebounds across 32 minutes. Wallace will retreat to the bench Friday as Young is back in the Hawks' starting five.
Making first NBA start
Wallace is in the starting five for Tuesday's game versus the Celtics, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Wallace will replace Trae Young (Achilles) in the starting lineup Tuesday. Wallace is averaging 5.4 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 14.6 minutes across his first nine appearances this season.
Good defense in garbage time
Wallace provided six points (2-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and four steals in 21 minutes during Monday's 123-93 loss to the Celtics. Wallace saw the bulk of his production come in fourth-quarter garbage time during the blowout loss. Undrafted in 2021, the rookie out of UTSA is on a two-way deal with the Hawks and is getting some extra burn as the team deals with injuries. Despite the situation in which he racked up Monday's numbers, his active defense was encouraging and may be worth noting as Trae Young (ribs) left the game. If Young misses any time, Wallace could be in line for even more action.
Provides spark off bench
Wallace finished Friday's 123-115 loss to Sacramento with 14 points (5-9 FG, 4-8 3Pt), three rebounds, three assists and one block across 29 minutes. Wallace recorded season highs in minutes, points, rebounds, assists and blocks during Friday's loss. With Dyson Daniels (hip), Bogdan Bogdanovic (hamstring) and Kobe Bufkin (shoulder) all dealing with injuries, Wallace could continue to receive increased playing time.
Back to NBA
Atlanta recalled Wallace from the G League's College Park Skyhawks on Monday, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Wallace was sent to the G League to practice Monday but has been brought back to the NBA club ahead of Atlanta's game versus Washington to provide emergency depth. Wallace has yet to make his NBA debut, but the Hawks have a lengthy injury report for Monday's game and could need his services off the bench.
Lights it up in SL finale
Wallace generated 23 points (8-17 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 2-4 FT), nine assists, six rebounds and three steals during 27 minutes of Saturday's 90-82 loss to the Knicks in Summer League. Wallace took advantage of the injuries to Zaccharie Risacher (quad), Mouhamed Gueye (hip) and Nikola Djurisic (foot). taking on a lead role offensively. Wallace has shined this Summer, earning a two-way pact with the Hawks as he begins his fourth professional season.
Joins Atlanta on two-year deal
Wallace and the Hawks agreed to a two-way contract Monday. Wallace has been playing for the Hawks during Summer League, averaging 8.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in 24.3 minutes across two games. He showcased his talents with the Skyhawks in the G League during the 2023-24 season, posting averages of 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.6 steals.
