Bellator Adds Ulysses Gomez To Bantamweight Tourney

Bellator officials announced earlier today that submission specialist Ulysses Gomez will be added to Bellator Season 3’s bantamweight tournament.

Gomez fights out of Las Vegas and trains under Marc Laimon. Currently, Gomez carries a 6-1 professional Mixed Martial Arts record going into Season 3 and has won all six of his fights by way of submission.

The only career blemish in mixed martial arts for Gomez came at the hands of Shooto Flyweight Champion and Muay Thai specialist Rombaa Somdet. It was only the third fight of Gomez’s career, and he managed to go the distance.

The 26-year-old Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belt and has held Brazilian Jiu Jitsu titles in NAGA, IGJJF, and in Grapplers Quest.

“Ulysses has a great background in jiu-jitsu which could serve him well in our 135 tournament,” said Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney. “He comes to us through the same management team that provided Joe Soto during Season 1, so their track record is very impressive. We’re happy to have him and look forward to watching him fight in our Bantamweight Tournament this summer.”

Gomez last saw action on Wednesday night when he won the Tachi Palace Fights Flyweight Championship by defeating Luis Gonzales by unanimous decision.

He will now join the ranks of Danny Tims and Mark Oshiro for the Bantamweight tournament in Season 3.
