Nintendo fans, the fighting game community and casual/expert players of the Super Smash Bros. series can’t wait for the 3DS/Wii U versions to arrive.
The anticipation for both game’s releases have nor reached a fever pitch. Japanese gamers and those lucky enough to import it have been playing it extensively, but us North Americans will finally get to own it on October 3, 2014. If you haven’t been keeping up with all the leaks or you’re just getting wind of how awesome this game will be, we’re here to provide you with all the info you need.
We’ll make sure to get you up to speed on everything that matters in the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros.!
1. The 3DS Version Comes With Its Own Graphical Sheen and Exclusive Mode
Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS differs from the Wii U version in several ways. For instance, the characters have been provided visible black outlines around their bodies. This feature was implemented in order to make the fighters easier to see on the 3DS’ miniature screen.
This version of the game will also run at a consistent 30 frames per second, while the Assist Trophies and Pokemon assists will run at 30 frames per second. The top 3DS screen will display the multiplayer brawls and the bottom 3DS screen will show off each character’s icon and damage percentages.
One mode that can only be played via the 3DS version is the “Smash Run” mode. Players will select a character and run through various stages. They’ll be able to access them through a large maze-like map and encounter all types of enemies from throughout Nintendo’s long history of games.
During these stage playthroughs, players will collect several items that increase the stats of whoever they’re utilizing. After 5-minutes of play, players will check out their character’s stats and keep tabs on whatever they’ve collected along the way. Finally, they’ll pit their powered up fighters against each other in a final battle.
