Final Score: Giants 30, Texans 17
The New York Giants got their first win of the season by handing the Houston Texans their first loss of the season.
Here’s how it happened.
Giants Dominate First Half
The Giants have dominated the first half, scoring two second-quarter touchdowns.
Quarterback Eli Manning hit wide receiver Victor Cruz (pictured) for 26 yards for the first one, and Giants running back Rashad Jennings ran in from 1-yard out for the Giants’ second score.
But Houston still made some great plays in the first half, including this one.
Texans Come Out Strong in Third Quarter
After holding New York to a field goal on its opening drive of the second half, Houston came out firing. After hitting a field goal to get on the board, Houston had a 4-play, 93-yard drive that was capped off when quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick hit Damaris Johnson for a 44-yard touchdown to cut New York’s lead to 17-10 going into the final quarter.
Giants Extend Lead After Blocked Punt
After Josh Brown hit a 29-yard field goal for the Giants, New York took advantage of a blocked punt when Manning hit tight end Daniel Fells (pictured) to put the Giants up 27-10 with nine minutes remaining. It was just Fells 10th career touchdown reception.
Brown then made a 31-yard field goal before Houston quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick ran in from 1-yard out for the final score of the game.
