The Indianapolis Colts were on their way in the first quarter Thursday night to bludgeoning the division rival Houston Texans. Houston made things interesting, but after nearly blowing a 24-point lead, Indy held on 33-28 for its fourth straight win after an 0-2 start.

With Help From an Onside Kick, the Colts Scored 3 Times in the 1st 10 Minutes

Indianapolis got on the board less than four minutes in when Adam Vinatieri kicked a 29-yard field goal that put the visitors up 3-0 with 11:13 left in the first quarter.

The Colts wasted no time in adding to the lead. Pat McAfee recovered his own onside kick on the ensuing kickoff, and Trent Richardson scored on a 5-yard run two plays later to extend the lead to 10-0 with 10:40 left in the quarter.

The rout was already on when Andrew Luck hit Ahmad Bradshaw for a 5-yard touchdown pass with 7 minutes left in the quarter to make it 17-0.


Andrew Luck Threw for 208 Yards & 2 Touchdowns in the 1st Quarter

Andrew Luck had about as good a first quarter as you can possibly have. The Colts QB shredded the Houston defense for a stunning 208 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter en route to a 24-0 lead.

Luck capped the quarter by hitting Coby Fleener in the end zone for a touchdown on the last play of the quarter.


The Texans Scored 14 Unanswered Points to Get Back In the Game

Houston shook off the dreadful first quarter and scored two unanswered touchdowns to cut Indy’s lead to 24-14 on a 12-yard Arian Foster touchdown with 8:22 left in the first half.

Vinatieri kicked a 34-yard field goal with 1:05 left in the half to stretch the Colts’ lead back to 27-14.

JJ Watt Recovered a Fumble & Took it 45 Yards to the House

The Houston Texans made it a one-possession game against the Indianapolis Colts Thursday night when JJ Watt took a fumble recovery to the house for a 45-yard touchdown.

It was the third touchdown of the year for Watt and his second on defense, and he followed it up with one amazing celebration dance. Watt’s score got the Texans to within 33-28 with 10:46 left.
