As expected, UFC officials today confirmed that UFC 119 will take place at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Sept. 25.
The event, which airs on pay per view, is headlined by the long-awaited rematch between Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Mir defeated Nogueira in the first meeting between the pair in Dec. 2008, becoming the first man to ever finish the legendary Brazilian heavyweight. Nogueira revealed after the bout that he’d been battling a staph infection in the weeks leading into the fight, which led to a sluggish and listless performance.
The co-main event will see Nogueira’s brother Rogerio take on former Ultimate Fighter winner Ryan Bader. Nogueira defeated Jason Brilz in a contested decision during his last bout, while Bader is coming off a knockout victory over Keith Jardine at UFC 110.
Also announced was a rematch between Chris Lytle and Matt Serra. The pair headlined the finals of the “Ultimate Fighter: The Comeback” season.
Tickets for the event go on sale this Saturday, July 24, at 10am ET. They are priced from $40 to $300 and will be available at the Conseco Fieldhouse box office as well as Ticketmaster locations.
