Amy Lee and Evanescence Move to Electronica

Evanescence started recording their new album on Feb 22nd. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, lead singer Amy Lee said the band is moving towards an electronic sound. Lee said that she’s been inspired by bands like Depeche Mode, Portishead, and MGMT and while the music may not sound the same, “the heart of the band of still there.” Which is pretty much saying, “We want to sound like them now. Not us.”

Hopefully this new sound won’t be yet another ripoff of the dance-rock sound that The Killers made so popular. Seeing as Steve Lillywhite is helping produce the album, this shouldn’t be a concern. Lillywhite helped produce bands like Dave Matthews Band and U2.
