WATCH: Saturday Night Live Offers Heavenly Tribute To Slain Angels

Thank you, Saturday Night Live.

NBC’s decades-long comedy show made a departure from its usual comedic opening last night, paying tribute to the children and adults slaughtered at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The show simply opened with a lit candle, and then the sounds of the New York City Children’s Chorus simply singing “Silent Night,” a tribute angelically sung and quietly presented. It was the show’s only reference to Friday’s tragedy — and it was just perfect.

And then the screen went dark, lit back up and the children shouted the show’s traditional introduction: “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”

Simply beautiful. Again, thank you, Saturday Night Live, for your tribute to the slain angels, from a very heavenly choir indeed.
